Working in conjunction with the classroom teacher, FrenchSounds, LLC now offers its services as a pronunciation resource for classroom students at all levels through videoconferencing using Skype or iChat.

At the beginning of this series of live videoconferencing lessons, FrenchSounds will assess the general level of pronunciation proficiency in the class and will recommend privately to the classroom teacher specific goals which can be achieved during the available period of instruction. Those goals could focus on perfecting specific sounds, on developing the musicality of rhythm and intonation, or on recognizing stylistic levels. For more advanced students, instruction in the basics of phonetic theory is available.

Classroom teachers will actively participate in these lessons by encouraging individual students and directing the general flow of the instruction. FrenchSounds will always work closely in conjunction with each teacher, who will receive a general lesson plan that can be adapted to best suit the particular class. The teacher will also receive specific teaching materials before each lesson, which can be modified as necessary.

Lessons are offered in flexible increments for best use of class or lab time. For example, students could have two 15- or 20-minute segments or one 30-minute segment per week. The total period of instruction is variable, from two weeks to the whole semester.

In between videoconferencing lessons, students should practice the given exercises for reinforcement, both with their teacher and on their own.

FrenchSounds also offers a theoretical and practical review of phonetic principles for native and non-native teachers, using audio recordings of their own students, to assist in applying the best practices for improving pronunciation.
